International Grants and Fellowships

: Supports well-defined research projects in Australia in one of the following fields: life sciences, engineering, medicine or mining.

Offers several fellowships, which help scholars devote six to 12 continuous months to full-time research and writing. Awards are available to assistant, associate, and full professors with the Ph.D.

  •  Supports projects in the humanities and social sciences that bridge disciplinary or geographic boundaries, engage new sources, develop fresh approaches to traditional materials and issues, or otherwise bring innovative perspectives to the study of Chinese culture and society.

Provides fellowships in fields of the humanities and social sciences to engage in research projects in Turkey. Deadline: Nov. 1 for US-based projects; Overseas deadlines vary.

: Supports scholarly research in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden.

Offers fellowships for “scholars who wish to pursue projects in the humanities and social sciences related to French and francophone cultures.” The foundation also sponsors the projects of writers, visual artists, photographers, video artists, filmmakers, media artists, and composers.

 Provides support to scholars who wish to conduct research in more than one country, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center. Fields of interest include the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences. 

Provides opportunities for scholars and professionals to teach and/or conduct research in countries all over the world. Deadline: August 1 for Traditional Fulbright Scholar Program. Deadlines vary for other programs.

 Offers fellowships for short- or long-term research projects in Germany. Deadlines vary by program.

: Supports three to four-month residential fellowships at Rhodes University in South Africa for senior scientists with a well established research record in order for the scholars to work on research in philosophy; classics; ancient, medieval, or modern history; classical, biblical, medieval, or modern languages; political theory or law. 

Supports highly qualified scholars who are under 40 years of age of all nationalities and disciplines for long-term research projects in Germany. Deadlines: Continuous.

 Offers several programs for U.S. scholars and professionals to conduct research in Europe and Eurasia. Deadlines vary.

Provides awards for scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers to conduct research abroad.

Supports research on "political, regional, ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural and economic encounters and conflicts in contemporary Europe, and between Europe and North America.” 

Provides fellowships to scholars from the social sciences, humanities, and the natural sciences through various international fellowship programs, which are noted below.
