The 2026 Annual Student Exhibition showcasing the work of Loyola students in art and design classes will be on display in the Julio Fine Arts Gallery from April 13 to May 4. The gallery will host the Reception and Awards Ceremony to celebrate student work on Thursday, April 23, from 5 to 7p.m. The gallery is free and open to the public. Visual arts and communication and media professors nominate student work from this academic year to be featured in the exhibition. Faculty serve as jurors and each may nominate up to 10 students who they feel created quality work that showcases the skills they learned in Loyola courses this year. Students have the opportunity to display their work for the public eye and experience what it is like to have their artwork in a gallery setting.

“The annual student exhibition is a longstanding departmental tradition that allows us to celebrate student work from across our visual art curriculum. The show features work from introductory courses to advanced senior projects, presenting a multitude of ideas from different perspectives,” said Jon Malis, MFA, chair of visual and performing arts. “The exhibition connects our students to broader conversations in contemporary art and helps them gain professional experiences while still in school.”

Jaz Erenberg, Loyola’s artist in residence this year, will serve as the final juror and judge all the studio art and photography pieces. She provides the unique perspective of a working artist with experience submitting work to a professional exhibition. At the reception, awards will be given out at 6 p.m. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded for both studio artwork and photography pieces.

“We are very excited to have Jaz as our juror this year and cannot wait to celebrate the students at the reception,” said Megan Rook-Koepsel, director of the Julio Fine Arts Gallery.

The reception is free and open to the public, and there will be light refreshments available. This event attracts a large crowd of students, faculty, and community members who want to support Loyola’s student artists.
