Loyola Maryland is expanding its commitment to college access and affordability for Maryland students with two financial aid initiatives available to students who will enter as students in Fall 2027.

Through the new Maryland Promise tuition commitment, Loyola will guarantee that undergraduate tuition is fully covered through a combination of federal, state, and Loyola-funded grants and scholarships for eligible Maryland students who receive the Federal Pell Grant and Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant.

Loyola is also expanding its existing Charm City Promise to provide an even greater commitment to students from its home city of Baltimore. Beginning in Fall 2027, eligible graduates of Baltimore City high schools who receive the Federal Pell Grant and Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant will have tuition, housing, and meals fully covered at Loyola.

"For many students and families, the published cost of a private university can make a Loyola education seem out of reach before they ever explore the financial aid available to them," said Eric Nichols, vice president for enrollment management. "The Maryland Promise provides families with a clear and simple message: If you qualify for the program, Loyola will ensure that your tuition is covered. We want talented Maryland students with significant financial need to know from the beginning of their college search that a Loyola education is within reach."

The Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant, administered by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, provides need-based financial assistance of up to $18,000 annually to eligible Maryland residents with significant financial need. The program represents a substantial state investment in helping Maryland students pursue higher education.

"The state has made a meaningful commitment to ensuring that talented Maryland students with significant financial need can access higher education, and Loyola is proud to build upon that investment. Charm City Promise Expansion

Alongside the new statewide initiative, Loyola is also strengthening its commitment to Baltimore through an expansion of the Charm City Promise.

Beginning with students entering Loyola in Fall 2027, eligible graduates of Baltimore City high schools who receive both the Federal Pell Grant and Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant will have tuition, housing, and meals fully covered. The Charm City Promise will remove additional financial barriers and give eligible Baltimore City students greater access to Loyola's full residential undergraduate experience.

Affordability and Access

The Maryland Promise and expanded Charm City Promise are part of Loyola's broader commitment to making the value of a Jesuit education more accessible for students and families. The University has also introduced new financial commitments for students enrolling through Early Decision and eligible graduates of Catholic high schools beginning with the class entering in Fall 2027.
