Non-degree Coursework in Theology

A stone slab with various languages etched into it

The Department of Theology offers the following two options for participation in graduate-level coursework in the program without pursuing the Master of Theological Studies or the Certificate  in Theology and Ministry.

Master's Plus, Theological Studies

Through the Master's Plus, individuals holding master's degrees in theology (MTS, MA, or MDiv) from accredited colleges, universities, or seminaries may take graduate-level courses offered by the Theology department.

Students may take an unlimited number of courses, as long as they maintain good standing as a graduate student (GPA of 3.0 or higher, with no more than one grade of C). The Master's Plus does not lead to a degree, and students are not eligible for financial aid.

Detailed admission information (application procedures, required documents, deadlines, etc.) can be found on our Â鶹Porn - Graduate Theology page.

Theology Non-degree Students

Nondegree students are those who have at least a bachelor's degree and wish to enroll in graduate courses without pursuing a graduate degree at Loyola. Nondegree students are limited to enrollment in eleven graduate credits. Individuals who wish to continue beyond the eleven credit nondegree limit must formally apply for admission to a degree, postbaccalaureate, or postmaster's program. Students may not continue to enroll beyond the eleven credits until they have been admitted into the degree program of choice. To avoid program interruption, students should apply after their third course, otherwise there may be a break or semester lost in the continuity of the program. Credits earned by a nondegree student may transfer to either the Certificate in Theology and Ministry or Master of Theological Studies degree upon student's admission to the respective program. Nondegree students are ineligible for financial aid.
