Literacy

Please note

The LCC is not currently offering in-person or virtual literacy tutoring.

Although our values and commitment to literacy education and access for all continues to remain the same, the Literacy Division within the Loyola Clinical Centers (LCC) is innovating and changing to meet the demands of literacy education in a digital and interconnected world.

Today, the Literacy Division solely offers school-based services. Utilizing the latest literacy accreditation standards and online technology, our clinical faculty and literacy graduate students are providing literacy services to K-12 students within schools where our graduate students currently teach.

We now can offer a variety of high quality, evidence-based instruction and assessment in reading and writing to school aged children on a much larger scale locally, regionally, and nationally through this school-based approach and because our Loyola School of Education Literacy Graduate program is offered to graduate students online. Graduate students can provide instruction and intervention to students in their school in key areas of word recognition, phonemic awareness and phonics, reading and writing fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension either in-person and/or online.

Although the Literacy Division does not offer in-person services to the general public at our Clinical Center locations, our work in the Baltimore area is still happening through school-based and community-based partnerships within Baltimore and, specifically, the York Road Corridor.  Our goal within these partnerships is to train tutors and organizational leaders to effectively provide literacy support to K-12 students.

For more information and if you are interested in establishing a partnership with the Literacy Division to continue this amazing work, please contact the Literacy Division Director listed below.
